Philip Edwards (clarinet), Ellie Blackshaw (violin), David Elwin (piano) The group will be playing three classics of the genre: Mozart’s Kegelstatt trio, Milhaud’s Suite,and Stravinsky’s suite from The Soldier’s Tale. The Århus Sinfonietta are performing my ICP winning work Smash and Grab at the ‘Sounds New’ festival in Canterbury. The concert is being recorded for BBC Radio 3. The concert is taking place at Augustine House in Canterbury at 7.30, you can download the poster here. This is an exciting performance for me – I can’t wait to hear what this amazing ensemble do with the work!
The Workers Union Ensemble are performing my new work Ripped Up for ensemble and live electronics as part of the University of Leeds lunchtime concert series at 1.05pm in Clotherworker’s Hall this Friday. I’m conducting my piece and Matt Kaner‘s Gauguin Sketches. Should be a good gig!

Hertfordshire Youth Choir will be singing ‘Interplay II’ for choir, piano and electronics in St. Saviours Church in St. Albans on Wednesday. We had a rehearsal last night and it sounded great. It promises to be a great concert with an interesting and varied programme and it kicks off at 7.30.

‘Schism’ for bass clarinet, violin and piano will be performed for the third time at the London New Wind Festival at St Cyprian’s Church on 28th September at 7.30. It promises to be a great concert with an interesting and diverse programme.

Young Jazz Hackney will be performing both mine and Chris Ash’s second commissions from the HMDT as part of the PRS Foundation Young Composers’ Scheme at 6.15 on 29th June at the Mermaid Theatre. The Young Jazz Hackney performance is the warm-up for ‘Shadowball’, a new jazz opera by Julian Joseph.
I’m off to the International Composers Meeting in Apeldoorn in a few weeks which is pretty exciting! I’ve written a new piece, Broken Society, especially for the meeting for ‘orkest de ereprijs’. If anyone wants to come and lives in Holland then the concert featuring all fifteen works by young composers from around the world is on 19th February in Apeldoorn.
