I’m delighted that Aisha Orazbayeva (violin), Alice Purton (‘cello) and Mark Knoop (piano) will perform a slightly revised version of my Piano Trio (with whistles) at Turner Sims, Southampton, on 27 November as part of the University of Southampton Music Department Professional Lunchtime Concert Series. Deal Festival commissioned this work in 2015 and the main change I’ve made is deleting the second movement! The trio will also be performing Klarenz Barlow’s 1981 and Walter Zimmerman’s Ephemer.
Premiere of reworked version of 'Loop Concerto' (2013) for jazz trio and ensemble (originally solo piano and orchestra). Performance featuring Ivo Neame (piano), Jasper Holby (bass) and Jon Scott (drums) alongside students and staff, The HARTLEY Loop Orchestra, from the University of Southampton Music Department. Concert also to include new Piano Concertino by Andrew Fisher and works by Mozart and Gavin Bryars.
The Workers Union Ensemble will perform at the legendary Turner Sims Concert Hall at 1pm, 30th April 2012. The programme includes my own Ripped Up, pieces byby Adam Fergler, Michael Finnissy, Matthew Kaner and a brand new work by Ryan Latimer.
You can read a review of the first set of a series of workshops for cochlear implant users run by a team of us at the University of Southampton, where I am working as a research assistant composer. The workshops were good fun and really positively received.
